I was really inspired by the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger challenge this week, which was to make a card inspired by this photo from Vogue Magazine:
There are several things that I find so striking about this photo. The color combination or red, white, black, with the hint of pink is simply gorgeous, but the detailing of the ric-rac edging on the jacket ruffles and the curvature of the hat are beautiful as well. The shape of the jacket is very structured, almost geometric, but there is such a class and elegance to this photo. I love it. And I want her hair!!
And thus, this card was born this morning:
This was my first time making a flower like this, and the geometry of the picture is what inspired me to cut flowers from the crossword and Suduko parts of the newspaper. The focal point of the Vogue pic, to me, is the bright satin bow, so that is something I really wanted to use on my own card. I kept the structured theme by adding the black grid paper behind the layers of red cut with ric rac scissors as well. The little detailing on the pink button was done with red DMC floss. The arched backdrop was cut from the Mat Stack die (then trimmed) and the pink piece was cut by hand to layer behind it. I went with the scrolly/ladylike font for the sentiment to add some elegance.
I hope you like it! Thanks for visiting! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
