Papertrey Ink December Blog Hop

Another post this week, but this time for the Papertrey Ink December Blog Hop! This month's challenge was to use scraps of holiday remnants on a project. You can read all about it here on Nichole's blog.

This year, Eric and I received a most beautiful holiday card. The card was by Vera Wang designs, and featured gold and silver snowflakes and shapes dry embossed onto a very thick cream colored cardstock. I actually found a link to the card, so you can view it here if you want to see what the original looked like.

I thought that the larger images on the face of the card looked like flowers, so I cut them out to use on this card...not feeling guilty about it at all since I do not know the people who sent the card (my husband does). Is that wrong?

I stamped the polka dots in Raspberry Fizz over the patterned paper from 7 Gypsies, and used summer sunrise ribbon to bring out the gold on the flowers. The crystals are from PTI, but I used a Copic marker (one of 2 that I own, that is luckily a raspberry shade) to color them.

We are getting our first big snow storm of the season here in the Boston area, and there is a blizzard warning through tomorrow. This means I should have plenty of time to finish up the calendars that I have been working on for my friends at work.

Thank you everyone in advance for any comments you leave. I hope you had a great Christmas!

Supplies {by PTI unless otherwise noted}: Stamps: Polka Dot Basics, Turning a New Leaf ; Paper: Vintage Cream, Kraft, Raspberry Fizz, Decoration patterned paper (7 Gypsies) ; Ink: True Black, Raspberry Fizz; Other: Crystals colored with Copics, Summer Sunrise satin ribbon, cutouts from Vera Wang holiday card

Great colors. Love the way you stamped the polka dots over the patterned paper. Cutting out the flowery snowflakes (or whatever they were originally) and pairing them with the leaves was genius!

love the idea to stamp over a patterned paper. wouldn't have thought about it. and i don't think there's anything at all wrong with cutting up the cards you received whether you knew the sender or not :) after all it's yours now.

Suzanne, I love how you stamped the polka dots on that great paper, plus your "raspberry" jewels are great! Stunning card. Your husbands friends wouldn't mind at all that you chopped up their card to make this beauty.
