12 Kits of Christmas: May with Joyce

It's month #5 of our 12 Kits of Christmas project, and this month's hostess is Joyce! If you'd like to read about how this group started and works, please read this post. :)

This month, Joyce sent us a kit full of supplies to make Hanukkah projects, which was a special treat for me since I don't have anything like what she sent. I also think her kit was the easiest for me to work with by far - I've got lots to show today and I was able to put them all together in record time. I am quite excited about that!

The card above was made using a sketch you may have seen here before - it's from one of Lucy Abrams' sketch challenges from last winter. I thought it was a great way to showcase the beautiful papers that Joyce sent us.

Next up is this adorable box diecut, which I do not own and am now SO tempted to buy. It was a breeze to assemble and decorate and I just love the shape.

I went clean and simple again on another card, with a little bit of stitching and ribbon, hoping to keep the diecut in the center as the main showcase of the card. I do love the plaid on this paper though.

Joyce also sent us some tags! I love tags, and was really excited about the diecut on the right since I also don't have that one, or the one that was used to make those delicate and gorgeous circular flowers/wreaths. I love the triangles too.

Lastly, I have one last card to share; this time, I added more stitching to the top and to the bottom, and added some gold silky crush ribbon from RibbonCarousel.com.

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #99

Look at me playing along with Waltzingmouse! Finally....YAY! I've been meaning to order some of their stamps for quite some time, and last night I had an idea for this week's sketch using the Compact Family stamps...

I used A Muse Studio inks along with some washi tape, a MFT border die, Mr. Huey's spritz, navy blue twine (from RibbonCarousel.com), and other random goodies that have been sitting in one of my crafty drawers. The arrows and the stars are stamps from two different PTI sets, but I thought they added nicely to the mix on the center panel.

I hope you like this - this was a bit of an adventure from the norm for me, but super fun nonetheless!

RCC55: Pinterest Inspiration with Danielle Daws

I loved making this card for this week's Ribbon Carousel Challenge because the lovely Danielle Daws picked a GREAT photo for a Pinterest inspiration challenge:

I was drawn to the color scheme, as well as the lines in the photo, so I decided to use my tree die from Savvy Stamps paired with some Bittersweet Jute Twine from Ribbon Carousel - it is the perfect shade...almost a burnt orangey red and I love it! You should check out all the other colors of jute twine: pink, green, navy, purple, as well as a wide variety of neutrals.

So how was your Memorial Day weekend? We took a fun road trip to Ogunquit, Maine yesterday - it is just gorgeous there, and I had the best fried clams I've ever had! It's the little things that make me so happy. I also squeezed in a trip to my LSS and picked my first peony of the season from our garden...hoping there are bunches more to come by the end of the week. I'll share photos if I snap some good ones. :)

CAS-ual Fridays 54: Man, It's Casual Friday

Happy Weekend!

I've got a few projects to share with you today for the latest CAS-ual Fridays Challenge. This week, we're challenging you to make CAS masculine cards that incorporate designer paper. Our sponsor this week is Gina K. Designs...and she has given the team some of her great Casual Fridays designer paper to work with for this occasion.

For my first card above, the patterned paper made me think of rugged and industrial types of things, which is when I remembered that I have that really cute distressed wrench stamp from A Muse Studio. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to align the images in different ink colors, and added the coordinating sentiment...only to finish it off with the nut (I think that is a nut). I love how that one came out.

Next, I was inspired to emboss the paper using one of my Cuttlebug folders. A card that was designed by Dana Grothaus a few years ago is what I used for the layout inspiration of this next card...though I didn't use any stamps on this one:

The letters were diecut from oatmeal cardstock from WPlus9 using Sizzix dies that I got from SU!. The ribbon reminded me of a measuring tape, so I deemed it manly and finished the card off with a nice knot using this ribbon from Ribbon Carousel...a bow just didn't seem manly enough!

Lastly, I wanted to try some paper piecing with Gina's papers, this time using different images from A Muse Studio:

I used the Vintage Labels 1 dies and stamps from A Muse to create the center panel, and paper pieced the shirt and tie from two different patterns in the set.

Retrosketches #12

Hi there! Hope you are enjoying your week!

I am back with a card that I made for this week's Retrosketches Challenge. I'm in need of several sympathy cards, as several friends have lost loved ones this week. I thought that the Clear and Simple Stamps flower set was perfect for this sketch, so I will be CASE'ing this tonight. 

I can CASE myself, right?  :)

Tonight I'm looking forward to the American Idol finale. After his final performance last night, I am really rooting for Phillip Phillips...fingers are crossed! Any other fans out there?

Hi everyone! Hope you've had a great week and that you'll have an even better weekend. I've got some fun crafty plans, so I am definitely looking forward to it. My card came together pretty quickly this morning, because you all know how much I love working with patterned papers! Lawn Fawn's is great - I love how vivid the colors are and the patterns in them have just the right amount of detail for me. The sentiment stamp is also from one of their collections. I used Nestabilities to diecut the circles and added the Martha Stewart sticker flower, and was pretty much done with this one.

CAS-ual Fridays 52: Feathered Friends

TGIF!!!! The last couple of weeks have been a doozie for me at work so I am especially grateful for the chance to catch up on sleep and visit with family this weekend. I hope you have something fun planned.
